Hallmark's "The Christmas Promise" Is One of 2021's Best!

Image
The Christmas Promise Plot Summary Nicole learns to deal with grief, with the help of her grandfather and a carpenter she hires to renovate the home once meant for her and her fiancĂ©. Starring:  Torrey DeVitto, Dylan Bruce, and Patrick Duffy Image:  Crown Media Finally, A Decent Cast Hallmark hasn't been doing the greatest job in 2021 when it comes to casting, mainly because their decisions are based on affirmative action and woke progressivism instead of talent and chemistry. The Christmas Promise finally takes us back to how storytelling used to be at Hallmark before Woke Wonya Lucas took the helm at Crown Media. This is the first movie in a long time that includes diversity in a way that seems natural instead of contrived.  God made us all--red and yellow, black and white, and we are precious in His sight, but not every color of the rainbow has to be ramrodded into every movie, like we saw in Boyfriends of Christams Past  and several other recent movies.   The cast in The Ch

Take This QUIZ On Hallmark's "Coyote Creek Christmas!"

Image
Coyote Creek Christmas Plot Summary While throwing a "Christmas Around the World" party at her family's inn, an event planner discovers Christmas magic with a charming father-son duo whose presence brings about tension and joy. Starring : Janel Parrish and Ryan Paevey Image:  Crown Media Nothing New To See Here While many of us are happy to watch the eye candy that is Ryan Paevey, it is rather pathetic that Hallmark keeps feeding us the exact same plot and taking advantage of our fandom. Too much of a good thing ceases to be a good thing.  Imagine eating your favorite food every day for dinner.  Sounds good in theory, but it quickly grows unpalatable.  I packed PBJ for most of my high school lunches, and after graduation, nearly 20 years ticked by before I could eat one again. We have watched a gazillion event planners get upset to learn the family business is being sold, only to take it over because their career really hasn't been satisfying after all.  Good grief

Hallmark's "Christmas in Harmony" QUIZ, Plus A Look At The Cast

Image
Christmas in Harmony Plot Summary   Harmony is tricked into auditioning for the Holiday Chorus--directed by an ex-boyfriend.  By Christmas Eve, they could be harmonizing in the key of love. Starring :  Ashleigh Murray, Luke James, Michelle Williams, and Loretta Devine Image:  Crown Media Christmas in Harmony Boasts Star-Studded Cast Ashleigh Murray (Harmony) is best known for her part as Josie in the CW's Riverdale --the lead singer of Josie and the Pussycats.  While her voice is lovely, her performance as a Hallmark leading lady is forgettable.  She doesn't possess the on-screen charisma to capture the hearts of fans.   Image:  Crown Media  Luke James (Kyle), on the other hand, is a natural.  James doesn't fit the hunk model of a leading man, but he brings other qualities to the table.  He's a three-time Grammy nominated singer/songwriter, so he doesn't have to "fake it until you make it" in this movie.  He has toured with superstars, been on Broadwa

"Boyfriends of Christmas Past" Is a Fun Story Ruined by Bad Casting

Image
Boyfriends of Christmas Past Plot Summary Leading up to Christmas, Lauren is visited by the ghosts of four ex-boyfriends.  She must learn to open her heart or risk losing her best friend, Nate. Starring :  Catherine Haena Kim and Raymond Ablack  Released:  2021 Image:  Crown Media Unique Twist on a Classic A Christmas Carol has been retooled countless times through the years to give a classic story a modern twist.  Sometimes, this has resulted in cringe-worthy reproductions, and other times, the viewer has been pleasantly surprised. Boyfriends of Christmas Past   is based on a novel by Edie Grace, and the story is fun.  Imagine your past loves coming back to help you with hindsight so you don't ruin another relationship. (affiliate link) Unfortunately, Hallmark ruins a delightful and creative story by basing their casting choices on affirmative action instead of talent and audience appeal.  We are left with a Skittle-studded cast that makes no sense and distracts from the st

Hallmark's "Christmas in My Heart" Is More Focused On Race Than Good Storytelling

Image
Christmas in My Heart Summary Violinist Beth returns home after the recent death of her mother and tutors the daughter of a reclusive country music star to prepare her for the upcoming holiday concert. This movie stars Heather Hemmens , Luke MacFarlane , and Maria Nash . Image:  Crown Media The Focus On Diversity Overshadows The Story Hallmark continues to make diversity a priority over good storytelling, which means their virtue signaling has transformed once wholesome movies into RACIST programming. Christmas in My Heart is the most racist movie Hallmark has produced to date. It's apparently taboo for two people of the same race to fall in love in a Hallmark story these days.  Beth (Hemmens) is biracial because her dad is white and her mom, now deceased, was black.  Sean (MacFarlane) is white, but his wife, also conveniently deceased, was black, and he has a black daughter. When it comes to our own relationships, this hodge-podge of diversity isn't relatable.  Real life d

Take This QUIZ On Hallmark's "You, Me & The Christmas Trees!"

Image
Starring:  Danica McKellar and Benjamin Ayres Released:  2021 (Countdown to Christmas) Summary:  An arborist falls in love with a farmer as she tries to save his trees before the town tree lighting. Image: Crown Media A Very "Pun-y" Movie! One thing Hallmark script writers do well is include playful puns in many of the movies when the scene fits.  Puns are clever and unique, and they add whimsical fun to lighten the mood. Contrast pun usage to a horribly overdone trope:  sipping hot cocoa and getting the face lathered in whipped topping.  Dr. Evil first made that funny in an Austin Powers movie several years ago; he termed it the Belgian Dip.  Hallmark copied the idea and has used it it so many times it has become obnoxious.  It's like when a small child says something funny enough to earn a belly laugh from a parent; the child will repeat the line over and over and over to garner a repeat response, until the parent explains it was only funny the first time.    Benjamin

Name That Christmas Song Quiz (With A Hallmark Movie Twist!)

Christmas Music Sets The Tone In Hallmark Movies Just hear those sleigh bells ringing, ring-ting-tingling too..... the music plays as the opening credits to another Hallmark Christmas movie cascade across the TV screen.  The music puts us in a holly jolly mood before the first scene unfolds. Sleigh Ride is still playing in your head right now. It's impossible to listen to Christmas jingles and not tap your foot, sing along, or maybe even do a little jig around the house.  Music has the power to make a Grinch's heart grow three times bigger--even with a simple fahoo fores dahoo dores. Hallmark sprinkles the perfect amount of holiday music into every movie, and as we watch, the stress from the day melts away like Frosty in a greenhouse full of poinsettias. Let's Fuse Christmas Music Trivia With Hallmark Movies! Here's a reindeer game every Christmas lover can play, even if you have a red, shiny nose!
